Or so I have been told multiple times by my darling fiancee. We have been going crazy searching for a very specific table – 42 inches – ROUND {Yes, it needs to be in caps – don’t ask why} – countertop height.

There are lots of reasons why we need to rush out and get this big piece of furniture “RIGHT NOW” (remember when you could make things flash?). We have had a very small group of people over at this point but there have been some key examples of why we need to get a table soon (And craft project  are not one of them).

Exhibit A: When the mothers came up for their much ballyhooed dress shopping excursion I cooked dinner for them. Pretty normal so far, but when we went to find seating my poor mother ended up sitting on the floor because she didn’t want to eat on the couch! (Not exactly fine dining, although the braised short ribs did get good reviews)

Exhibit B: Our friends Allison and Mike came over for a weekday get together. Having had many dinners with my cousin Bill I have been indoctrinated into the school of thought that “Warm plates are GOOD.”  However, handing unsuspecting guests hot plates (not warm – hot) and then asking them to place those in their lap to eat is not Good Eats.

So the search continues for the perfect table. If anyone has any pointers we would love to take a look!

************ Update *****************

We found the table and stools! Crate and Barrel 4th floor outlet in Cambridge was our salvation. $400 less than retail price for the perfect table.

It is Friday the 13th. Can’t let the day go by without a great link. I don’t want to plagiarize anything here but man – this site is fantastic!
Things you might think about posting in your cube… but never would

We had a very busy weekend! My mom flew in late last Thursday for a weekend of wedding dress shopping in Boston! Eight hours of traveling only to sit in a store and watch me try on dress after dress after dress. (Crazy right?)

Her plane landed at 1AM.  John stayed up to drive to the airport, but within five minutes of saying hello he was off to bed!  We stayed up talking about our new condo (see earlier posts for pictures).  Mom finally got to see my ring.  It was great to see her!

On Friday, Mom and I sampled the dessert bar she had in her CARRY-ON,  hit up a couple bridal stores,  and wandered through my namesake AC Moore (similar to Michaels or Hobby Lobby in Iowa).

Funny story – We walk into a bridal store and the woman is super helpful.  She pulled some great gowns and was helping me in and out of them, but then this conversation occured:

Dress Lady: I want to go to Iowa someday.  They have great potatoes!

Me: You mean Idaho?

Dress Lady: No Iowa. I met someone from there once and she said the best potatoes are from IOWA.

Me: No, really I think you mean Idaho. Are you sure?

Dress Lady: Absolutey, they make the best potatoes in Iowa don’t you remember those commercials?

Me:  So…ummmm…could you zip me up?

I don’t think I need to tell you MY dress will not come from that store! Idaho is no Iowa!

John’s mom (Carol) drove up to shop with us on Saturday.  We found a dress, a veil (thanks for the reminder, Dad!), a couple ideas for the “young mothers”, some cocktails and a delicious dinner cooked by John.  Can’t get much better than that!

In only 20 short weeks, fittings will begin!

P.S. – It wasn’t THIS dress!

This is what it looks like in the fall. Hoping to make something more in the spring. Any ideas?

Here is a breakdown of what the bedroom looks like.

(K still thinks we should have done an assortment of purple shades….. )

(Edit – had the wrong gallery linked. Fixed now )

Here is a quick look inside our new condo. The yard and basement may make it in the next installment.

Color code guide

This weekend the two mothers will meet for the first time. Can you feel the excitement in the air?

Kelli will be heading out to go dress shopping with both mothers for a fun filled day of frill and lace. (Has anyone ever seen “Say yes to the dress?“)

I imagine it will go something like this:

Should be a whirlwind experience for them! (The only thing I know is that I will not be tagging along on this trip!)
