But I was hoping to avoid the swaying back and forth of middle school dances too.
So I enrolled in a two-part class at the Cambridge Center for Adult Education called “Dancing for Romantic Occasions”. I didn’t technically have to bribe John, but dinner & drinks after class certainly didn’t hurt. Our instructor Jim (secretly referred to as Twinkletoes) was perhaps the most patient man I’ve ever met. He didn’t even laugh as we tangled ourselves trying to replicate his steps. We were joined by 12 other engaged couples, a pair of “friends” and one elderly couple. I think I speak for both of us in saying we had a great time, lots of laughs, and will maybe not step all over each others feet during our first dance.
But don’t get your hopes up!
